Jake Starr's Monthly Harangue

March/April 2003:
This World Is Fucked!

My name is Jake Starr and I'm the singer in the rock-n-roll band Adam West. Sorry about combining March and April into one column this time, but as you are all aware, my country is at war and I live in Washington, DC. Things have been a little crazy this past month to say the least.

Lemme just start out by saying that there are some seriously evil motherfuckers at work today in the world and none of us have any say in how they act. These are the people that are waging war right now. This is the year 2003! Why the fuck are we still so uncivilized that we need to use our proverbial fists to solve problems? It really makes me nauseated.

And I live in the "nation's capital" where every Republican, Bush-supporting asshole is waving an American flag and cheering on their cowboy president like it's a fucking hootenanny.

Fuck that. I did not vote for that piece of shit. I do not have any say in where my tax money goes. I do not want any Americans, Brits, Iraqis, or anyone else to die because of my country's stupid foreign policies. This is all about greed.

Shit, I'm sure all of you have read enough about all this in your local newspapers already. We all know the truth of what's really happening but it appears we are unable to stop it. And that sucks big donkey dicks.

Alright, what's new in the music world? I saw Turbonegro last week in Philadelphia to a packed house of 100 people. They're touring the USA right now opening for the Queens of the Suck Age and luckily they picked up a few headlining shows without that shitty "rock" band. As expected, Turbonegro kicked my ass. I hope their new album lives up to the hype.

The new Flaming Sideburns album "Sky Pilots" is spinning in my player now. Excellent, of course. And I look forward to the new Thee Ultra Bimboos album next month. My band finished our new album "God's Gift to Women" but it won't be released until August 2003 to coincide with our European tour? so you loyal fans won't be able to hear it until then. Sorry. I'm sure you'll survive.

Like I said, it's hard to think or write about anything when your country's at war. The whole thing just leaves me limp. So I'll end with a final thought: Fuck the Mooney Suzuki and long live the Flaming Sideburns. Peace, my brothers.

Jake Starr signing off until next month...
